Renewable Energy Group Research Center

Ames, Iowa
REG Lab

Renewable Energy Group, as a renewable fuels company, purchasing materials made from recycled compounds and reducing energy use were key decision-making factors for REG in the design and construction of this “green” lab space.

The renovation project converted existing open office space to laboratory space. The work consisted of selective demolition of concrete floors for new plumbing, conversion of offices to chemical storage, gas storage and sample storage. A new demising wall was constructed and the existing walls were extended to the deck and sealed for classification as smoke walls. The lab area has Medintech flooring, new light fixtures and new exhaust system. The project was completed in four months.
