Throughout 2023, Story Construction’s Small Projects Group completed a full renovation of Pet Medical Center in Ames while keeping the vet clinic operational at all times.
Story’s Small Projects Group was contracted by Bush Construction based out of Davenport, IA. A trusted builder for several vet clinics under the same ownership throughout the state, Bush sought a partner local to the area to complete this renovation.
The renovation was completed in two phases to allow Pet Medical Center to remain operational throughout construction. The first phase included renovating the east side of the building into a surgery room, two exam rooms, a kennel holding room, and the primary area for physical exams. The team converted part of the existing reception area to the west into an exam room temporarily while the first phase was being completed.
Once the first phase was completed and turned over to Pet Medical Center staff, the second phase began in the west portion of the building, which included renovating the reception area, office area and two more exam rooms.
Story’s Small Projects Group self-performed demolition, concrete work, framing and insulation, door frames, doors and hardware, while subcontracting drywall, painting, flooring, mechanical, electrical and plumbing work with local partners.
