Story Construction is excited to announce the addition of Kevin Kinzler and Guy Gast to the company’s board of directors.
In 2022, Story Construction became entirely employee-owned through the formation of an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP). In following common practice for ESOP companies, Kevin and Guy join the board as non-employees of the company – a first in Story Construction’s 90 year history. Kevin and Guy join Mike Espeset (president), Pat Geary (chief operating officer), and Shane Hall (chief financial officer) on Story Construction’s board of directors.
Kevin Kinzler and his wife Yvonne founded what would become Kinzler Corporation in the couple’s garage in Ames in 1984, first hanging drywall and then adding insulation installation services to better serve their customers. The company today is a family and employee-owned family of companies including Kinzler Construction Services, Kinzler Materials and WD Door. Kinzler Corporation is rapidly growing with locations across America’s heartland, including Iowa, Colorado, Texas and North Carolina. While Kevin’s son Tanner now serves as president and CEO fo Kinzler Corporation, Kevin serves as chairman of the corporation’s board of directors.
Guy Gast retired in 2021 from his role as president of The Waldinger Corporation’s Iowa Division. In his time at Waldinger that began in 1980, Guy oversaw significant long-term growth through acquisition, organic growth, product and geographic expansion, and market sector positioning to become the largest provider of MEP construction and truck-based services in Iowa. Guy built teams and strategies to enable acquisition and profitable delivery of the largest projects in the company’s history through a focus on people, process and productivity.

Kevin and Guy officially joined Story Construction’s board of directors in November 2023.
