Iowa City Wastewater Treatment Plant

This project for the Iowa City South WWTP involved expanding and modifying the existing facility to increase capacity by 5 mg/day. Expansion work included adding a laboratory/administration building, maintenance/vehicle storage building, vortex grit removal system, primary and secondary clarifiers, aeration tanks with fine bubble diffusers and centrifugal blowers, rotating drum sludge thickeners, anaerobic sludge digesters and wastewater pumping systems. Modifications were made to the chlorine contact tanks and chlorination system. Also included in the contract was related site work and extensive mechanical and electrical work.
