Nextera Energy Generation Repair & Service

Located in Story City, Iowa, just east of Interstate 35, NextEra Energy’s Generation Repair and Service facility is utilized to repair wind turbine electric generation equipment as well as to store parts and supplies that support the company’s renewable and other energy-related operations throughout the Midwest.

Starting with an existing 30,000-square-foot building, Story designed and built a 54,000-square-foot addition to the east and a 6,000-square-foot office addition to the west. Both additions were completed in nine months. The new service and warehouse addition has a 45-foot eave height to allow room for two 60-ton bridge cranes. Multiple gantry cranes are incorporated along with other manufacturing equipment. Two loading docks and two overhead doors provide access to the shop area.
