Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church
Designer: RDG Planning & Design
Story Construction was the general contractor for this addition and renovation project completed in 2010. A new, octagon-shaped chapel featuring exposed wood beams and decorative stonework was added to the south side of the church. Art glass inserts were incorporated to create an atmosphere for reflection and prayer.
The renovation included work in the existing gathering space and the sanctuary, where a new sound system and acoustical work, choir platforms and a handicapped-accessible altar were installed located in the middle of the sanctuary to create a centrally-focused worship space. A wood sun shade was constructed above the altar area with baffles placed every 4-6 inches that can be adjusted to an appropriate angle to block the sun.
