Prior to the start of the 2025/2026 school year, Story Construction led completion of another addition onto Bondurant-Farrar High School – this time a two-story addition to the building’s southeast side. The added spaces include art classrooms, a fitness room, a wrestling room, and support spaces. The project also included reconfiguration of existing rooms including the cafeteria, training room, fitness room, and vocational technology classrooms.
Voters in the Bondurant-Farrar district approved a $48 million bond referendum in 2023 to address continued enrollment growth in the district. Story Construction engaged with the district and SVPA Architects during the design phase of the project to provide preconstruction services including cost estimating, constructibility analysis, bid packaging and bid administration for the district. In April 2024, bids were received just under budget for the addition and approved by the district to begin construction.
Construction began in August 2024 with pouring of footings and foundations, followed by erection of 32 precast concrete panels. By November 2024, the building was weather-tight and interior flooring and finishes could begin by spring 2025. The entirety of the addition meets FEMA’s tornado shelter guidelines for structural integrity and other criteria.
This project was the sixth one Story Construction has completed for the Bondurant-Farrar district. Previous projects include the new junior high school completed in 2022, secure entrances at Anderson Elementary and the district’s Intermediate School completed in 2024, renovations to the Intermediate School in 2020, additions to Morris Elementary in 2019, and additions to the high school completed in 2018. Story Construction is also leading construction of the new baseball, softball and tennis facilities currently underway.
